The term "as-welded mechanical tubing" refers to tubing that has been produced by
the electric resistance welding (ERW) process to ASTM specifications A-513. It is
provided in the state in which it leaves the welder, with only minimal downstream
processing, such as stress-relieving or annealing, to meet particular customer
specifications. The lack of additional processing, such as cold drawing, makes
as-welded tubing a cost-effective product for many mechanical applications.
It is produced in a wide variety of sizes with close tolerances that allow the
tubing to be used in mechanical parts with little or no metal removal or machining.
Mechanical tubing is a cost-effective choice for hydroformed or stamped body assemblies
and a variety of mechanical components for autos and trucks, farm equipment and construction
equipment. Other principal applications include: bicycles, motorcycles, steel furniture for
homes, offices and institutions, exercise equiment , recreational vehicles and equipment,
store fixtures.

PROLAMSA offers a complete line of structural shapes, formed using high
strength steel, ASTM A-570 (57,000 min. yield), finished with a baked-on red oxide
primer finish or G-90 galvanized finish. All standard shapes are roll-formed to ensure a
maximum quality finished product. PROLAMSA produces many open shapes and sizes that can be
manufactured to design specifications.
Substructural components from PROLAMSA are manufactured in Light Gage
Structural Institute (LGSI) sections.

Structural tubing, also called hollow structural sections (HSS), refers to high-strength
welded steel tubing used as structural elements in buildings and other structures and a
variety of manufactured products. It is produced in round, square and rectangular shapes
and a broad range of sizes. The product conforms to ASTM A-500 strength requirements.
Benefits include aesthetic appeal, high strength-to-weight ratios, uniform strength, cost
effectiveness and recyclability. Hollow structural sections have been used for years in
bridges, highway signs, guard rails, power transmission towers, oil rigs and other structures.
They are also an important material in autos and trucks, construction equipment, farm machinery,
railroad cars, office furniture, recreation equipment, warehouse rack and storage systems,
and many other applications.

In addition to manufacturing finished tubing, metal building components, and metal shapes,
PROLAMSA supplies slitted coil to customers in the roll forming industries for agriculture,
construction, furniture, and many other uses.
Through its in-house, continuous process paint lines, PROLAMSA provides red-primered coils.
Primered coils are available from 10 gauge to 20 gauge. Coils can be delivered slitted to
specifications.
