-"It
is a great satisfaction owning a company which employs a labor force
of over 300 people," Don Juan said, knowing what it is like
to have a single assistant at his side.
On
his 75th birthday, his employees and factory workers presented him
with a diploma that he treasured. It read: "In recognition
of his exemplary and untiring labor in the development of this company,
which was made possible because he began as an assistant earning
one peso per week."
"Money
does not change us when it is earned slowly and through effort,"
he said. It did not change him, judging from his kind and familiar
way of calling each one of these 300 people: "my children".
Don
Juan Montemayor Martínez summarized his efforts in one humble
phrase:
-"I do not have the words to thank our Creator for the benefits
received...despite having endured hardship and bitterness as well."
